Settler tableware
The “Settlers’ Tableware” from the Bohemia Porcelain Factory in Neurohlau (now Nová Role, Czech Republic) is a historically significant piece of porcelain from the Third Reich. It was produced from approximately 1941 to 1945 for the SS and other organizations such as the German Red Cross. Its distinctive feature is the blue, abstracted floral branches under the glaze, which can be found on various tableware items such as coffee pots, cups, plates, and tureens.
This tableware was manufactured on behalf of the SS Economic and Administrative Main Office, as the existing Allach Porcelain Manufactory could not meet the demand for everyday and canteen tableware. “Bohemia” Keramische Werke AG was therefore converted into one of the most modern kaolin processors and produced not only settlers’ tableware but also canteen tableware for various Wehrmacht units.
The factory marks of the settler porcelain were applied in blue under the glaze: the Allach rune mark (two superimposed Sig runes) is surrounded by the Bohemia “B” – the so-called alliance mark. This is a modification of the previous mark with the Bohemian lion in the center.
