SS-plates

by | Jan 30, 2006

With Himmler’s second decree of May 5, 1937 on the awarding of prizes, the future awarding of any medals or such plaques and gifts made of metal was prohibited.
From then on, the awards were made by the Allach porcelain manufacturer for Himmler’s awards. While the badges were given to individual SS members, the SS plates of honor were handed over to the respective SS teams. Regardless of the individual competitions, each plate had a large sculptured SS rune in an oak leaf pattern in the middle of the plate. The SS rune badge was made of bisque.

Honorary award plates were presented at the following SS sporting events:

–SS Baggage Marching Championships in Hamburg, May 22, 1938

–SS Baggage Marching Championships in Stuttgart, April 30, 1939
